Dear Members,
After many days of preparation, planning and praying we can happily say, 'Mission accomplished.'
At last the medical outreach has come to an end. We had to give in some extra six hours on an extra day. Thanks to the tireless efforts and extra commitment by the entire team.
Every body on the team worked to the last erg. The visiting team had to work extraordinarily in counting tablets, packing, dispensing, counseling, motivating and playing with the children.
Even though people had to brave the scotching sun on the first day and a down pour on the second day they were so satisfied with the medicines. Each left the ground with a smile, words of appreciation and praise and a will to send out the message.
The Vice Chairman LC III commented, “We will make sure we defend this project. This is what we want for our people.” Another official, Mr. Mulumba , Sub-county minister for education said, “I WILL MAKE SURE I fight those who are trying to oppose this project. You have given all these people free medicine e.g Anti Malarial drugs which cost between shillings 10,000 and 25,000 a single dose! All you do is for helping us Ugandans. Why then should one stand in your way?”
The numbers overwhelmed us. We had anticipated about 200 people for the two days. However, on the first day alone 411 people were registered at the gate and 349 the following day. Very young children were not recorded at the entrance. Some parents came with as many as four children!
In total 765 people were tested for HIV 18 of which were reactive; 16 females 2 males The youngest HIV+ was a four year girl.
In the same village we distributed 450 mosquito nets to people who had been pre-registered with the help of the local council chairman. The people were very thankful.
On the other hand, 150 Bibles were given out whereas in the prison eighty 12-bar boxes of soap, 200 doses of anti-malaria drugs, boxes of syringes and gloves were given out.
We appreciate the mission team and the entire Met fraternity that donated generously to help make this mission trip a success. God richly bless you all.
Serving the Master,
PASTOR SSERUGO MATHIAS
