    June 16th, 2010

Dear Members,   After many days of preparation, planning and praying we can happily say, 'Mission accomplished.'   At last the medical outreach has come to an end. We had to give in some extra six hours on an extra day. Thanks to the tireless efforts and extra commitment by the entire team.  Every body on the team worked to the last erg.  TheRead more

The Hebrew word, Mashah means, “to draw out” (Ex. 2:10) as Moses was drawn out of the Nile River. Mashah also means, “anointed”. Moses was set apart by God to lead Israel into the future God had prepared for them. So is our hope for the orphaned and vulnerable children of Uganda. We believe that God can do great things with even the least of these, and Mashah Village will seek to help them discover their God given calling and anointing.

Mashah children will live in a family so that they will learn how to love and respect their mother and siblings. Respectable men from the area will regularly visit the children and provide the father figure needed to complete the family structure. Each family will consist of a housemother and 8 children- a number based on cultural considerations. There are women throughout Uganda who have been widowed or abandoned. They will be responsible for overseeing each cottage and offering their godly counsel and wisdom. They will also find the care and protection they need in the village.

At Mashah Village, it is critical to generate self-sustainability for continuing development. These women and children along with help from the onsite caretaker will raise livestock, fish, and cultivate crops. The farms will provide the children with opportunities to learn new skills and help the villages become self-sustaining for meat, vegetables, fruit, and dairy.

More than just a children’s village, Mashah Village will also be home to a church, a community center for the surrounding villages, a vocational training school, mission trip headquarters, and a pastor’s training facility.

Each home will cost approximately $10,000 and will include a home that will house 8 children and their house mother. These the cottages are small and resemble the homes that the African children were raised in. We believe that raising the children in their culture will prepare them for life after Mashah. We will teach them life skills to include gardening, cooking, fishing, and many other skills. It is our desire to begin the village with 18 homes that will house ultimately 144 children and 18 mothers. Already we have begun to interview mothers for the homes and have started identifying children for these homes as well. Would you consider sponsoring a home personally or maybe using your influence to find other friends and family members that might be interested in helping with your home. What a way to elevate the lives of you and your friends as they watch the homes being built and the children being moved into a safe house a place where they can be loved and rescued.

Update:

We are more than excited to report that huge steps are being taken at the Mashah Village! Eleváre Uganda has been approved by the Ugandan Government to accept children into the Mashah Village Homes. We hope to have our first child, Moses, in the first home by the beginning of October.

Two homes are completed and children have been placed in one of them. We are excited to announce that baby Moses is one of the children in this first home! We are currently interviewing families in order to place more children in the other finished home.
